A commercial cannabis production facility is about to break ground in Beaver Creek, despite neighbourhood concerns.
Premium Cannabis Meds BC has all approvals in place to begin construction directly across from the Kakaamin Family Healing Centre, which includes a daycare facility.
Company director Moni Sadeghi says they will start small – building one room of the facility and testing it – to prove there will be no smell.
“I am confident in the engineers that we have hired, that they are doing their job and providing us with the right equipment,” she said. “That’s the reason why we’re starting it up partially, to make sure if anything is not working the way it’s supposed to do then we will mitigate the issue right at the beginning.”
Sadeghi said the initial build will be about 3,000 square feet, before they launch the full 58,000 square foot project.
She said they are in no hurry given the latest downturn in the industry, and said it gives them the time to do things right.
