The Bulldogs return to action Friday night as they visit the Nanaimo Clippers at the Frank Crane Arena. The Bulldogs lead the Clippers by a single point in the standings. Both teams are on two-game winning streaks.

The Bulldogs return to home ice Saturday night, to host the Coquitlam Express.
The Port Alberni Bombers visit Campbell River Storm for game three of the VIJHL’s North Division Final series Friday night. The Bombers trail the best-of-seven series 2-0 after dropping game two Thursday night at the Multiplex by a 3-1 score. The Storm led 1-0 after 40 minutes, and took a 2-0 lead early in the third. Grayson Salmon made it 2-1 while shorthanded with five minutes to play, but the Storm scored an empty netter with 17 seconds to play to seal it.
Game time is 7:30. Game four goes Sunday at the Multiplex at 6:00.
Congrats to the ADSS Grade 8 Storm Girls Basketball team, who with a 28-23 win over Delta in Chilliwack on Saturday finished 9th in the Province. They entered as the 14th seed, and went 3 and 1 at Provincials, and 23 and 3 on the year.
Alberni Valley Junior Wrestlers Shine at Cowichan Elementary Wrestling Play Down
Duncan, BC – February 27, 2025 – The Alberni Valley Wrestling Club junior members delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Cowichan Elementary Wrestling Play Down, held at Queen Margaret’s School in Duncan. Competing against strong opponents, these young wrestlers showcased their dedication, skill, and perseverance in the final event of the Junior Club season.
“Our athletes have put in an incredible effort this season, attending evening practices and working hard to develop their skills,” said Coach Bob Brown. “This tournament was a great opportunity to test their progress, and we are incredibly proud of their growth and achievements.”
The Alberni Valley team traveled with 40 athletes, making the trip a memorable experience for everyone involved. Coach Trevor Barker highlighted the importance of team bonding and community support in making the trip possible.
“It was a fantastic day for our young wrestlers,” said Coach Trevor Barker. “We took 40 kids down, and after the competition, we enjoyed a team dinner in Nanaimo. The kids had a lot of fun on the bus as well. We’re incredibly grateful for the donations from our community and the support from families who made this trip possible.”

This year’s Cowichan Elementary Wrestling Play Down was another successful event, giving young wrestlers a chance to gain valuable experience and test their progress. With the Junior Club season now concluded, the Alberni Valley Wrestling Club encourages athletes to stay active in other sports during the off-season and looks forward to another exciting season starting in the fall.
